The Life and Music of Margaret Pleasant Douroux
During doctoral studies at Liberty University, Damian Price sensed there was a need to write about the life and music of Dr. Margaret Pleasant Douroux of Los Angeles, CA. Her contributions to gospel music have been great, composing hundreds of songs that have become standards in the African American church. Thus, the academic world needs to know that. Dr. Douroux’s contributions have had minimal recognition over the years in the gospel music genre, which is a male-dominated industry. “Give Me A Clean Heart” (the title of Douroux’s first song): The Life and Music of Margaret Pleasant Douroux is just a glimpse into the accomplishments of this composer’s 50 years of writing music for the church.
